As CEO at SEACOM, Byron J. Clatterbuck is responsible for driving revenue growth from SEACOM's African and global service provider customers and key partners.

Byron has more than 18 years experience managing and developing telecommunication businesses with revenue in the hundreds of millions of dollars. His career in the telecommunications industry has seen him drive large acquisitions, investment projects, and manage global sales and marketing for a range of leading global telecoms operators, including BT, Level 3 Communications, REACH Network Services and Tata Communications.

Byron holds a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Hong Kong and is fluent in Mandarin Chinese.
Suveer Ramdhani

Suveer Ramdhani is SEACOM’s chief development officer. His responsibilities include developing new markets for the company’s wholesale telecom offerings, identifying new growth projects and commercial opportunities, overseeing strategic planning, and supporting the merger and acquisition strategy. Before taking on this role, Ramdhani was SEACOM’s Head of Product Strategy.

Suveer Ramdhani is SEACOM’s chief development officer. His responsibilities include developing new markets for the company’s wholesale telecom offerings, identifying new growth projects and commercial opportunities, overseeing strategic planning, and supporting the merger and acquisition strategy. Before taking on this role, Ramdhani was SEACOM’s Head of Product Strategy.

Ramdhani’s experience in the ICT industry spans more than 15 years. Previously the head of a telecoms management consulting practice, he has extensive experience in both strategy and operations projects. His experience in the submarine fibre optic cable industry goes back to the inception of the SEACOM project, and includes the development of the business strategy and plan for the cable system. Furthermore, Ramdhani’s team raised 50% of the equity required for the SEACOM project and completed significant off-take agreements with customers.

Over his career, Ramdhani has participated in a series of strategic projects in the telecommunications, construction, petroleum and banking industries. Prior to SEACOM, Ramdhani held a senior management position at global systems integration group Dimension Data Group before joining ATKearney and then FeverTree Consulting as Head of the Telecommunications Practice.

Jackie Demetriou joined SEACOM in 2010 to develop and drive the implementation of the human resources strategy across the group in support of the business strategy. Her main focus is on developing and implementing best-in-class human resources practices to optimise people performance across the business.

Jackie Demetriou joined SEACOM in 2010 to develop and drive the implementation of the human resources strategy across the group in support of the business strategy. Her main focus is on developing and implementing best-in-class human resources practices to optimise people performance across the business.

A human resources management veteran with more than 20 years' experience at various multi-national organisations, Demetriou held a number of senior human resources management positions during her career. Most recently she served as Group Head of Human Resources of British American Investment and Regional Human Resources Manager of Rockwell Automation (South Africa and Middle East).

As SEACOM's Chief Technology Officer, Claes Segelberg oversees the rollout of SEACOM's infrastructure, manages its subcontractors and helps to drive its technology vision. Segelberg has worked for major telecommunications operators and consulting firms across Africa, Middle East, Asia Pacific and Europe in a career spanning nearly 30 years.

As SEACOM's Chief Technology Officer, Claes Segelberg oversees the rollout of SEACOM's infrastructure, manages its subcontractors and helps to drive its technology vision. Segelberg has worked for major telecommunications operators and consulting firms across Africa, Middle East, Asia Pacific and Europe in a career spanning nearly 30 years.

Prior to joining SEACOM, Segelberg worked on a range of data centre, fibre to the home and undersea cabling projects such as WAC's, Intra Asia & TGN-G for consulting firm Jupiter Technology as a lead project manager.

His career has also taken him to organisations such as consulting firm Parsons Brinckerhoff International; Hong Kong submarine cable operator PacNet (formerly Asia Global Crossing); Rann GlobalNet in the Czech Republic; First Telecom in Hong Kong; and Sweden's Telia Swedtel deploying networks both in Asia and in Central Europe.

A Swedish national, Segelberg holds a Diploma in Business Administration and Marketing and a range of specialist technical qualifications in the telecoms industry.

Steven van der Linde is responsible for growing group revenues as well as leading customer engagement and strategic channel development at SEACOM. He brings to his role more than 20 years of sales management experience in the African telecoms market.

Steven van der Linde is responsible for growing group revenues as well as leading customer engagement and strategic channel development at SEACOM. He brings to his role more than 20 years of sales management experience in the African telecoms market.

Steven joins SEACOM from Tata Communications, where he was Regional Sales Director for Africa. Previously, he held the same position with Teleglobe, which was acquired by VSNL, and ultimately Tata Communications.

Steven started his career in telecoms as an engineer with Telkom South Africa, where he was later promoted to Head of New Technologies, responsible for the introduction of new data services. He later moved into marketing to promote the use of these newly deployed services and handle Product Management of the Data Services Portfolio. He left the carrier to help establish M-Web, a South African Internet service provider.

Steven has an MDipTech in Electrical Engineering and is based in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Richard John Schumacher
Chief Financial Officer
As CFO at SEACOM, Richard Schumacher oversees SEACOM’s full financial performance. He was promoted to this role in July 2016, having originally joined SEACOM in November 2015 as the Chief Commercial Officer.

As CFO at SEACOM, Richard Schumacher oversees SEACOM’s full financial performance. He was promoted to this role in July 2016, having originally joined SEACOM in November 2015 as the Chief Commercial Officer.

Prior to joining SEACOM, Schumacher was the Operational Financial Director at JSE-listed Jasco Electronic Holdings, with responsibility for the financial performance of the operating companies.

Before that, Schumacher held various financial and commercial positions for Moores Rowland, Siemens Limited, Siemens Telecommunications, Nokia Siemens Networks and Maringo Communications. He has over 25 years of experience in the ICT and power industries.
