SEACOM Coverage Tool: FAQ


Below are tips on how to use the SEACOM Coverage Tool

  1. Entering Addresses: When entering addresses in the Search Box, the following 3 search Formats are supported:
    1. Address Format : 3 Albertina Sisulu Road, Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa
      1. Note : When searching for an address, it helps to enter the address and let Google auto-complete the search
      2. Note : Please adhere to the correct format, else this search will not be returned
    2. Degrees Minutes Decimal Format : 26°12'14.77"S 28°2'50.3"E
      1. Note : The ( " ) character is a single double quotation mark character and must not be confused for two consecutive single quotation mark ( ' ) characters
      2. Note : There is no restriction on the number of decimal places
      3. Note : Please adhere to the correct format, else this search will not be returned
    3. Degrees Decimal Format : -26.2041028, 28.0473051
      1. Note : Please ensure that you enter the comma character ( , ) between the two numbers else the search result will not be returned

  2. Measuring distances:
    1. Make sure that the "Measure Distance" option is checked on the top right of the page
    2. A dialogue box with the total distance will appear at the bottom of the page. Clicking on this dialogue box will disable the measure distance function
    3. Right-click on the map, on the position where you want the first measurement to appear. You can drag this marker around if you are not satisfied with the location where it landed
    4. Right-click again on the map to set the second measurement marker. You can drag this marker around if you are not satisfied with the position where it landed
    5. If you right click, and the red marker does not appear, please select another point on the map, closeby, then once the marker appears, drag it to your prefered position
